POWER TO THE PEDAL
OPTIMIZED
SHOE LAST
The toe-spring section of a cycling shoe plays a key role in supporting efficient pedaling. Too high, and it causes increased tension in the plantar, calf, and hamstring muscles. Too low, and you get a bowlegged, inefficient pedaling form. Extensive research by Shimano's R&D experts has produced a superior shoe last design with an optimized toe-spring section that promotes a smoother, more energy-efficient upstroke. Built based on feedback from pro riders, Shimano Dynalast helps reduce energy loss on long rides, letting you keep more in the tank for that final sprint to the line.
CUT BRAKING LOSS WITH MORE EFFICIENT PEDALING
Braking loss is the unwanted loss of power that occurs between the crank angles of 200。 and 360。 in the backspin direction of a pedal stroke. Shoes incorporating Shimano Dynalast help to reduce braking loss by promoting smoother, more efficient pedaling. If you want to reduce fatigue, get the most out of your legs, and go the extra mile, ride Shimano Dynalast.

BORN FROM EXTENSIVE TESTING AND MEASUREMENTS
Shimano is committed to developing cycling shoes that bring out the full potential of cyclists. Our shoes are designed and developed based on extensive measurements and data gathered from pro cyclists. Dynalast is one of the cutting-edge technologies that has emerged from this in-depth.
TENSION IN PLANTAR AREA AFFECTS LEG MUSCLES
A wider range of motion supports a smoother, more efficient upstroke.

HOLLOW CHANNEL CARBON SOLE TECHNOLOGY
To reduce sole weight, Shimano uses a carbon fiber production process like the one used to create carbon bike frames. During the molding of the outsole, hollow channels are filled with lightweight foam. This increases the overall surface area of the sole—adding strength and rigidity—without compromising the weight.

UPPER TECHNOLOGY
REDUCED PRESSURE ON TENDONS
The straps and rings on Shimano shoes are ergonomically designed to reduce pressure on the foot. An optimized strap design provides greater comfort and improves pedaling performance.
MORE LASTS FOR MORE FEET
The last determines the dimension, volume, and size of a piece of footwear. Shimano makes its own lasts, upgrades them every year, and offers the widest range of lasts of any cycling shoe manufacturer. The Shimano shoe line-up includes Curved, Women's, Wide, and Volume+ models, with extended sizing up to European 52. More lasts means a better fit for a wider range of foot shapes.
NORMAL LAST
WIDE LAST
WOMEN'S LAST
CURVED LAST
Shimano has created an anatomically curved last that eliminates angles and conforms better to the natural contour of your foot. The heel sits deeper in the shoe. The fit is tighter, closer to the foot. Fewer gaps plus a better fit equals longer, more comfortable, and faster rides.
VOLUME+ LAST
Shimano offers a unique last with extra toe-box volume to accommodate a wider range of foot shapes without affecting shoe length. Extra room to fit more foot shapes in greater comfort.
VOLUME PERFORMANCE LAST
An accommodative comfort performance last that's wider at the ball grid than the Volume+ last, this last provides superior comfort and stability and allows the use of custom orthotics.
VOLUME TOUR LAST
The Volume tour last provides added volume at the ball of the foot when compared to the Volume performance last,
providing additional comfort and support on and off bike.
PERFORMANCE TOUR LAST
This last features a wider ball-grid section than the ones on the Volume+ and Volume Performance lasts. An anatomical shape and roomy toe box enhance comfort for all-day rides.

POWER TRANSFER EFFICIENCY
SPD-SL is the road-specific refinement of the system. This pedal platform was designed specifically for the needs of world-class road racers. The seamless pedal-and-cleat interface provides a more efficient power transfer under the extreme pedaling loads encountered in race competitions

CUSTOM FIT
PRO-RACING TECHNOLOGY WITHIN YOUR REACH
Shimano's Custom-Fit technology was designed for Pro Tour racers who demand maximum stability and power transfer, plus the comfort to endure six-hour stages. The heat-molded precision fit and pure anatomical comfort has helped pro racers mount podiums all over the world. They get a competitive edge from 3D upper patterns with glove-like ergonomics. They power up the climbs with retention-system rigidity that eliminates gaps, reduces friction, and stabilizes the foot for a single purpose: efficient power transfer. Comfort-Fit is transforming the rides of enthusiasts at every level, because everyone benefits from a perfect-fitting shoe. Optimal precision and power. Pure comfort to go the distance.
LESS FRICTION REDUCES STRESS
Shimano's Custom-Fit uppers are designed to afford a more comfortable fit during riding. Independent experimental testing* has shown that reduced friction between the upper and the foot leads to a 13% reduction in the instep temperature compared to non-Custom-Fit uppers. Less friction, less heat, more comfort.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR FIT WITH OUR HEAT-MOLDABLE INSOLES
Custom-Fit heat-moldable insoles are included with all Custom-Fit-Ready shoe models and they can also be purchased separately. The insoles feature an ergonomic, heat-moldable base with a rigid high-density EVA support structure that provides instant support, comfort, and stability. Whether on the pro tour, at the World Cup, or just around town, Custom-Fit insoles will improve your ride.
TWO ARCH PADS TO SUIT DIFFERENT FOOT SHAPES
Along with the customizable heat-molded insoles, Shimano's adjustable arch pads bring the perfect shoe fit closer than ever. Depending on your foot curvature, you can choose a high-mid or mid-low arch support pad and enjoy a snug-fitting shoe with optimal pressure distribution.
PRESSURE MAP OF CUSTOM-FIT INSOLE
This is the pressure map with or without custom fit innersole. As you can see, red area has the higher pressure. Without custom fit, you can see the high pressure point at the ball girth area, and less arch support can be seen. After custom fit, the pressure is dispersed evenly, and supported by the broader area. Also body mass movement is less with custom fit innersole. This means the heel bone angle is optimized, and the feet do not move around in the shoes.

WARNING!
The Shimano Custom-Fit insoles can be used as they are without heat molding, but any heat molding must be done by an authorized Shimano footwear dealer. If it is done incorrectly, warping of the insole or serious injury may result.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Procedure applies to SH-R320, R260, XC90, and XC70 Shimano's Custom-Fit models only.
Caution: please only use the above mentioned devices supplied by Shimano for both molding procedures.
Always wear the special gloves delivered with the molding package. Molding procedure always without shoe cleats!
MOLDING THE INSOLE
Pre-heat the oven for approximately 10 minutes.
The temperature inside the oven will reach around 100°C (210°F).
STEP 1
Choose a high-mid or mid low arch pad and insert into insole.
STEP 2
Put the insole into shoe and confirm arch fitting.
STEP 3
Put the insole into the oven for 1minute
STEP 4
Put the insole back into the shoe.
Place foot into the shoe. Close the straps and buckle to the intended fit preferred by the user.
STEP 5
ask the customer to stand still for approximately 5 minutes with his/her full weight applied to both inner soles for their imprints. At this time, apply the weight on the front of the shoes.
FINISH
After five minutes, inner soles should cool down to almost body temperature and conformed to the rider's feet.
